FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - Fairfax police have arrested a 39-year-old man they believe is connected to a string of high-end jewelry thefts.

WUSA-TV reports (https://on.wusa9.com/1A4XBtk ) that Jan Parchewski of the Chicago area has been charged with burglary and grand larceny in connection to numerous jewelry thefts in the Fairfax County area. Police say he may have up to three accomplices.

Police say they believe Parchewski and others targeted homes owned by wealthy residents, and that the suspects may have watched the victims.

In one case, thieves broke into a home while the residents were at a funeral and stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry. In another case, a woman was out playing tennis when thieves stole her jewelry collection.

Police say the theft operation is sophisticated and involves two-way radios.
