LAKE ZURICH, Ill. (AP) - The fire chief in the northeastern Illinois community of Lake Zurich has resigned following his arrest on suspicion of attacking his estranged wife during an argument.

Fifty-four-year-old David Wheelock was arrested May 4 and is accused of shoving his estranged wife into a wall and threatening her. He is charged with domestic battery. His attorney, Christina Ivashchenko, says Wheelock denies the accusations.
