DETROIT (AP) - An open house and homebuyers’ fair are scheduled along with the online auction of 20 homes in an eastside Detroit neighborhood.

The Detroit Land Bank Authority says the houses going up for sale Sunday are in East English Village.

The event also will mark the one-year anniversary of the auction program which aims to find owners for vacant land bank properties.

Nearly 500 homes have been sold, generating more than $2 million. The Land Bank says the program also results in vacant and blighted houses being renovated and provides work for local contractors.

The homebuyers’ fair runs from 1-5 p.m. Bank representatives will be available to discuss special financing and rehabilitation loans for homes bought through the auction site.
