LOS ANGELES (AP) - More than 100 people have been evacuated as a precaution after a natural gas leak in the Hollywood area.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said the gas line was damaged around 11:30 a.m. Saturday during work by the Department of Water and Power. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters said more than 100 people were evacuated from six buildings. Dozens others were told to shelter in place.

A boulevard was closed after the leak, causing traffic congestion.

Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said the ruptured gas line wasn’t expected to be fixed until late Saturday.

An evacuation center was opened to house the evacuees. Scott said they’ll be allowed back home when hazardous material experts determine the air is safe.
