JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Col. John M. Rhodes will take over as leader of the 66th Troop Command during ceremonies Saturday at the Raymond Road Readiness Center in Jackson.

Rhodes, of Corinth, will succeed from Brig. Gen. Gregory L. Kennedy of Madison. Kennedy will take command of the Laurel-based 184th Sustainment Command later Saturday.

Rhodes was commander of McComb’s 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment during the unit’s deployment to Iraq in 2005. He also served as the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team’s deputy commander during the group’s Iraq mobilization in 2009, and then as commander from 2010-2013.

The 66th Troop Command is the Mississippi Army National Guard’s command element during large scale or sustained relief efforts following natural disasters within the state.
