CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Mayor Joe Riley and Charleston city leaders are dedicating the city’s newest park.

The 5-acre Gadsdenboro Park near the Cooper River waterfront is being dedicated on Saturday. It’s located not far from the South Carolina Aquarium and the Fort Sumter tour boat facility.

Riley and members of city council dedicate the park at 4:30 p.m. amid live music, pick-up games of lacrosse, bocci ball, corn hole and disc golf. There’s also face painting and balloon animals for the kids.

The center of the park is a lawn for soccer and football. Around the main field are smaller areas for playgrounds, bocce ball, chess tables and a fountain.
