BALTIMORE (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Washington and parts of Maryland and Virginia.

Warnings are issued for Carroll County, Montgomery County and Howard County until 6:30 p.m. The thunderstorms could produce very heavy rain, damaging winds and lightning.

A warning was also issued for Washington and Prince George’s County until 6:15 p.m.

The Baltimore Office of Emergency Management said on social media Saturday that it is monitoring the storms and will issue warnings as necessary.

Additionally, a severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Fairfax and Arlington counties in Virginia.
