TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - A Tempe student is facing charges for allegedly setting a fire in a high school restroom that led to a campus-wide evacuation.

Tempe police arrested the 15-year-old boy Friday and booked him on one count each of arson of an occupied structure, criminal damage, endangerment and disruption of an education institution.

According to a police, a security guard at Marcos de Niza High School spotted black smoke coming from a men’s bathroom on the northwest area of campus.

The school was evacuated and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.

Fire investigators say it was an act of arson and police say their investigation led them to the 15-year-old suspect.
