ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) - A man has been arrested after a vehicle with a 16-month-old boy in it was carjacked outside a Detroit-area motel.

Ayden Casteels was found asleep and safe about 7:30 a.m. Saturday in Westland.

Ayden’s mother said she was parked outside a motel in Romulus, west of Detroit, about 2 a.m. Saturday when a man forced his way into the car and drove away.

An Amber Alert was issued for the boy and later cancelled when he was found.

The alerts are cooperative efforts of law enforcement, media and others to quickly galvanize community responses to missing children or other urgent events.
