CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia has received approval for federal disaster assistance to help recovery efforts from severe storms in early April.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced the available assistance for state and local governments and some nonprofit groups in Boone, Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo and Wayne counties.

The assistance is for emergency work and repairs to buildings damaged by flooding, rockslides and mudslides from April 3 to 5.
