MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Bishop Peter Libasci is asking Catholic parishes across the state to take up a special collection the weekend of May 30-31 to support recovery efforts in Nepal following devastating earthquakes.

Libasci says given the reports of overwhelming devastation, it seems likely that the country will need a long time to recover.

Donations collected will benefit Catholic Relief Services, the international humanitarian agency representing the U.S. Catholic Church. The organization is providing relief and assistance in coordination with Caritas Nepal.
