OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a Northern California freeway worker’s truck was stolen at gunpoint after an early morning crash on Interstate-580.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday near Oakland, California. The CHP says a black BMW rear-ended the last truck in a California Transportation Department convoy on its way to clean a freeway.
The CHP said when a second Caltrans trucked pulled up to check on the collision, the BMW’s driver pulled a gun and stole that truck. The stolen truck was recovered about three hours later. No injuries were reported. The CHP continues to search for the carjacker. The gunman is described as a Hispanic man in his early twenties with a thin build and long, wavy, dark hair.
