CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Charlotte Knights are showcasing the Negro Leagues as the team welcomes five former players and league historians.

The Knights hold Negro League Tribute Day on Sunday at BB&T Ballpark. The players greeting fans and signing autographs are Eddie Burton, Luther Atkinson, James Bland, Bill Cathcart and Carl Forney.

Burton lives in Charlotte and also was honored at last year’s event.

League historian Fay Banks is bringing his historical display from Baltimore. It features photos, baseball gear and other artifacts telling the story of the Negro Leagues, which existed before major league baseball was integrated.

The Knights play the Syracuse Chiefs on Sunday.
