CHICAGO (AP) - Authorities say a contract worker for the Chicago Transit Authority died when a bucket lift touched a power line.

Thirty-year-old Kevin Benoit of Midlothian was electrocuted Saturday while working on the Brown Line elevated train track in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The Chicago Fire Department went to the scene just before 5 p.m. and ComEd sent crews to turn off the power. Benoit was pronounced dead just after 7 p.m.

The CTA has been working on the Brown Line track as part of the Ravenswood Connector Rehabilitation Project. Trains haven’t been running on the Brown Line between Fullerton and downtown during recent weekends because of the project.
