GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Glendale police say three people, including two children, have been severely injured and multiple others hurt in a three-vehicle crash.

Police spokeswoman Tracey Breeden says the incident occurred around 11 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Bethany Home Road and 81st Avenue.

Breeden says a woman driving with two children crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic. Her sedan collided head-on with another sedan carrying two men and three children.

A third vehicle occupied by a couple and one child then rear-ended both vehicles.

Breeden says the male driver and two of the children in the second sedan suffered life-threatening injuries.

Everyone else in all three vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say an unknown medical condition may be a factor.

The intersection will be closed for several more hours.
