ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting involving an off-duty police officer in Franklin County.

State police Sgt. Rick Garletts tells media outlets that the shooting occurred Sunday morning in the Snow Creek area.

Garletts didn’t identify the officer or the department for which the officer works. He also wouldn’t say whether the officer was acting in a law enforcement capacity.

He says the person who was shot suffered non-life threatening injuries. That person also wasn’t identified.

No other details were immediately available.
