NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Fire Department says an electrical fire forced evacuation of a 134-room hotel in downtown New Orleans.

The Wyndham La Belle Maison Hotel remained closed Sunday afternoon, nearly 24 hours after the fire in the room housing the hotel’s main electric panel.

Fire Capt. Edwin Holmes says nobody was hurt in the fire, which started in the electric panel.

He says 124 of the hotel’s 134 rooms had been reserved for Saturday night.

The fire was reported shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday and was under control by 9:30 p.m.

Holmes says nine trucks carry 27 firefighters came to the hotel on Magazine Street.

He says the American Red Cross helped hotel management find rooms for the displaced guests.
