BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The murder trial of a man accused of killing an off-duty Birmingham police officer starts Monday.
Officer Keary Hollis was shot to death roughly a year ago. Investigators said the officer backed into a motorcycle at a convenience store.
Prosecutors said that as the officer drove off, Patrick Johnson shot into Hollis’ car, killing him.
Defense attorney Charles Salvagio told WBMA-TV (https://bit.ly/1RUubnf ) that Johnson never had a violent incident in his life. He said Johnson was looking forward to getting his day in court.
Jury selection begins Monday.
