LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police say three people were wounded when a man suddenly opened fire after he approached them on a Hollywood sidewalk and asked for directions.

Officials say the shootings happened Sunday night on a residential street about two blocks north of Santa Monica Boulevard.

Sgt. R. Payan says police are searching for a male suspect in his mid-20s to early 30s who drove away from the scene. Investigators have not named a motive.

Two male victims were struck by bullets in the legs and a third man was hit in the lower abdomen. City News Service reports none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
