SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities are investigating what caused two boats to collide in foggy conditions in the waters off Long Island.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1A9lorW ) the crash happened just before 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Martin Betts says a fishing vessel and a pleasure craft collided about 20 miles south of Shinnecock Inlet. Betts says there were no serious injuries, but one man was ejected from a boat and thrown into the water upon impact.

The five boaters involved all had life jackets and waited in an inflatable raft for help.

Coast Guard units were slowed by low visibility. But they arrived by noon.

The identities of the victims haven’t been released.

Investigators don’t know what caused the crash. But they’re waiting for alcohol tests to come back on the boaters.
