DETROIT (AP) - Authorities say remains initially thought to be human that were found at Rouge Park in Detroit turned out to be from an animal.

Initial reports indicated that human remains were found Sunday about 100 yards into a wooded area. Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office spokesman Ryan Bridges tells The Detroit News (https://bit.ly/1QXavh4 ), however, that testing determined they were from an animal.

Bridges says no further investigation is planned to determine the type of animal.

Police say a preliminary examination of the remains at the scene had led officials to say that the remains were that of a human.
