BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - A woman and her three children are safe after emergency workers used personal watercraft to rescue them after they became trapped on a sandbar in Beaufort County.
Media outlets report the four became stranded in the mouth of a creek between Harbor Island and Hunting Island late Sunday afternoon when the tide came in.
Rescuers from the Lady’s Island-St. Helena Fire District used personal watercraft to bring the family from the sandbar. Authorities say they could not get a boat to the scene because the water was too rough.
The family was unharmed except for being tired.
