NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Forecasters say that while some thunderstorms may form in southern Oklahoma and northern and central Texas, they don’t expect severe weather to be widespread.

The Storm Prediction Center says there is some potential for severe hail and damaging wind gusts Monday afternoon and evening, but that any storms won’t cover a wide area.

The forecasters said Monday that high temperatures and dewpoints would contribute to some instability in the atmosphere, but storms would be isolated.

The area of their slight concern is from far south-central Oklahoma into western north Texas and western central Texas.

Other storms are possible in far western Texas, east of El Paso, and in southeastern New Mexico, where a severe thunderstorm watch was posted.
