SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) - Hundreds of people have attended the funeral of Rachel Jacobs, a 39-year-old educational software startup chief executive and Michigan native killed in the Philadelphia Amtrak crash.

The Detroit News (https://bit.ly/1ESWNmX ) says about 1,500 people participated in Monday morning’s funeral at Southfield’s Ira Kaufman Chapel. Burial was at Ferndale’s Machpelah (makh-peh-LAH’) Cemetery.

Jessica Steinhart says her sister was her “role model … confidant … best friend” and “a hard act to follow.”

Jacobs was married, with a 2-year-old son. She grew up in Huntington Woods, graduating from Berkley High School and Swarthmore College.

The Manhattan resident had a master’s degree from Columbia Business School and headed Philadelphia-based ApprenNet.

Her mother is ex-Democratic state Sen. Gilda Jacobs, chief executive of the Michigan League for Public Policy.
