MARY ESTHER, Fla. (AP) - One Panhandle man says he is fed up with three bears who like to hang around his backyard.

Ted Edwards tells The Northwest Florida Daily News (https://bit.ly/1eaS1vo ) he doesn’t want to hurt the bears, but that they are a major nuisance.

The bears like to sunbathe in his yard in Mary Esther, which is west of Fort Walton Beach. Edwards says they have knocked down his fence and they won’t leave even when he yells at them.

Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has been working with residents to help the mother bear and her two cubs stay out of trouble. Experts say residents should secure trash cans, take down birdfeeders and make sure there is no other food source in their yards that might attract the bears.
