LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Police are looking for the man suspected of slamming through a barricade at the Colfax Marathon, crashing into several parked vehicles and racing past runners.

Lakewood police identified the driver Monday as 30-year-old Chad Melendez.

Police say officers found Melendez near the race course Sunday morning after getting a report of a man sleeping in a vehicle. They say he refused orders to get out and started the engine. They say officers used a stun gun on him when he refused to stop.

Police spokesman Steve Davis estimated that Melendez was going at least 60 mph when he crashed through the marathon barricade. Luckily, he said runners were spread out at the time. The vehicle drove on the route off and on and was later found abandoned in Denver.
