COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Officials say a man died after crashing into a pole in Columbus just hours after celebrating his birthday.

Police say it happened at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Maurice Hylton was driving after celebrating his 27th birthday Saturday night when he lost control of his vehicle. Hylton was ejected from the vehicle and the car wrapped around a utility pole.

Hylton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say no other cars were involved in the crash and he was the vehicle’s only occupant.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
