NIBLEY, Utah (AP) - Logan police are investigating the cause of death of a 68-year-old Smithfield man who died after his small truck crashed over the weekend near Nibley.

Police Capt. Tyson Budge told The (St. George) Spectrum (https://tinyurl.com/msmq8hj) that David Ottley may have suffered a medical emergency before he veered off U.S. Highway 89/91 and vaulted into a field Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses told police he didn’t appear to brake or swerve back onto the highway and may have been unconscious before he left the road in the 1999 Toyota Tacoma.

He was taken to Logan Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Budge says an investigation is continuing. He says the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
