GOLDEN VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a suspicious object found along the side of roadway in northwestern Arizona has been destroyed.

Mohave Valley Sheriff’s officials say the object could have been a pipe bomb.

A bomb squad from the Kingman Police Department was brought in Monday and used a robot to take the item to a safe location and destroy it.

Authorities say the person who found the object near Highway 68 in Golden Valley told sheriff’s dispatchers it looked like a pipe bomb and it had caps on both ends.

The Arizona Department of Transportation and state Department of Public Safety are assisting in the investigation.
