DOVER, Del. (AP) - The Dover police department is reactivating a street crime unit in response to several recent homicides and shootings.

Officials say the unit was activated as of Monday and will remain activated for the foreseeable future.

The unit was previously implemented on a temporary basis last fall after several shootings, taking what officials describe as an aggressive, zero-tolerance approach to all crimes.

Officials decided to reactivate the unit following four homicides and several shootings over the past several weeks, including a shooting in Capital Green on Friday.
