PARMA, Mo. (AP) - Authorities in southeast Missouri are searching for a man who fatally shot a convenience store worker during a robbery.

The crime happened about 5:40 a.m. Monday at D&L; One Stop in Parma, a small town about 170 miles south of St. Louis.

Store owner Don Kirk told KFVS-TV (https://bit.ly/1Kgcuw1 ) that two female workers were in the store when an armed man told one of them to open the safe. Kirk says that when she refused, the man shot her in the head. The suspect pointed the gun at the second woman, who said she didn’t know how to open the safe. The suspect grabbed a few items and ran out.

The owners say the store has been victimized 10 times in 10 years, and they plan to close.
