CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - The University of Central Arkansas is in line to receive a $400,000 grant that will be used to help restore and renovate McCastlain Hall.

The money from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council will be used to create a new grand hallway between McCastlain’s East Commons and the Baum Gallery nearby.

UCA President Tom Courtway says the new grant pushes the total received to renovate McCastlain Hall to $1.7 million. The building, which was completed in 1939, is one of the original buildings at the school’s campus in Conway.

The council was created in 1987 to manage a grants program to benefit state-owned properties. The grants are funding through the state’s real estate transfer tax and are intended to benefit natural areas, historic sites and outdoor recreation.
