AKRON, Ohio (AP) - In a story May 17 about plans for a choreography center, The Associated Press erroneously reported the recipient of $5 million in funding. The money will go to a partnership of the University of Akron and a Cleveland dance organization, not to the university.

A corrected version of the story is below:

University, dance group to receive $5M grant for dance center

University of Akron, dance group to get $5 million for new national choreography center

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - A partnership between the University of Akron and a Cleveland dance company will receive $5 million to establish a national center for choreography.

The Plain Dealer reports (https://bit.ly/1A3Vrd4) the money will be provided by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and will help push plans for the choreography center forward.

The center is intended to be part of a network of facilities and resources for choreographers and dance companies that will be able to apply for studio time at the university’s Center for Dance and Theatre.

Pamela Young of DANCECleveland says two choreographers have already been chosen to inaugurate the center. She says the center will draw attention to northeast Ohio as a major dance hub.
