GLOUCESTER, Va. (AP) - The parents of a 6-year-old Gloucester (GLAWS’-tur) girl who were convicted of nearly starving the child to death are now going to trial in the death of their 7-month-old son.

The Daily Press (https://bit.ly/1AaHhXC ) reports that Brian and Shannon Gore are charged with murder and child neglect in the death of the infant. Their trial is scheduled to start Monday.

The infant’s remains were found buried in a box under a shed in the couple’s yard four years ago. A forensic examination found that the child had suffered from chronic malnutrition.

The boy’s 6-year-old sister was starved for most of her life. She weighed 15 pounds and was within a week of dying of malnutrition.

The child was formally adopted by what a prosecutor called an “amazing couple.”
