SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) - Montgomery County Fire Department officials say a woman who placed herself on a track was hit by a Metro train in Silver Spring.

Multiple news sources report the woman was struck and trapped under a train headed northbound for Glenmont on Sunday morning. Officials say the woman was rescued and transported to a local hospital by EMS workers as fire crews worked to clear the scene. Her condition was not immediately available.
