LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Las Cruces has terminated two city police officers following an investigation into an alleged incident of police brutality.

The city says Officers Richard P. Garcia and Danny Salcido were terminated Tuesday following an internal investigation.

Lawyers for 47-year-old Ross Flynn say he was beaten while handcuffed in a police holding cell.

Flynn had been arrested after allegedly pointing a rifle at his neighbor over a parking space and then ignoring officer’s commands at the scene.

He was later hospitalized with a skull fracture.

Attorneys for Flynn and his mother have filed a notice of an intent to sue.

The District Attorney’s Office has said it is reviewing results of a New Mexico State Police investigation into the incident.

Garcia and Salcido jointed the department in 2004 and 2011, respectively.
