TEWKSBURY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities suspect a fire at a New Jersey police station was set.

The fire broke out Monday in Tewksbury Township. The police department shares the building with other government offices.

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony Kearns III said in a statement the fire appears to be an intentional act that could have had “the potential to engulf the entire structure and trap occupants.”

The Fairmount and Oldwick Fire Departments extinguished the fire.

The prosecutor credited the prompt response by firefighters to avert the potential for death or serious injury.
