Atlanta officials rename section of street after Ted Turner

ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta City Council has approved a plan to rename part of a street after media mogul Ted Turner.

City officials said in a statement Tuesday that council approved of an ordinance to rename Spring Street to Ted Turner Drive at Historic Spring Street. The street will carry Turner’s name along a roughly 1.5 mile stretch through downtown Atlanta. The ordinance was approved in a 9-3 vote.

City officials say the renamed road will span areas near some of Turner’s business endeavors, including the CNN Center and a Ted’s Montana Grill restaurant.
