MISSOURI VALLEY, Iowa (AP) - A 17-year-old faces a charge after authorities say he led a high-speed car chase in western Iowa and shot at a transportation enforcement officer.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says the teen initiated the chase Monday afternoon following a traffic stop in Harrison County. The teen is accused of driving away from an enforcement officer with the state Department of Transportation.
Authorities say the teen reached speeds of 100 mph. The enforcement officer says the driver shot at him during the pursuit, striking his marked vehicle.
The teen was arrested at a rest area after he lost control of his vehicle. He faces an attempted murder charge.
A 20-year-old Sioux City woman in the car was also arrested. She is charged with identity theft and interference with official acts.
