EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A Eugene man has been arrested in connection with a crash last year that seriously injured him and five others on Territorial Highway, west of Creswell.

The Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/1FmagqB ) that a Lane County grand jury indicted Rick Kitzel on five counts of third-degree assault and driving under the influence in the July 12 crash.

Police say before the Monday arrest, troopers had been investigating and awaiting toxicology reports, medical records and other evidence.

Kitzel had been driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup when he allegedly crossed the centerline and struck a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder.

Police say the Nissan’s driver was Eugene resident, 40-year-old Marcos Quiahua-Quiahu.

Quiahua-Quiahu and his four passengers were all taken to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries.
