BOSTON (AP) - Federal prosecutors are seeking a 30-year prison sentence for a Sandwich man convicted of running an oxycodone ring on Cape Cod.
The Boston Globe reports (https://bit.ly/1HdA5qV ) the government filed its recommendation for Stanley Gonsalves over the weekend in federal court in Boston. The 36-year-old was convicted in October 2014 of drug distribution and money laundering charges, as well as a weapons offense.
Authorities say Gonsalves and his brother used a network of people to help distribute the oxycodone throughout the Cape. The ring distributed more than 370,000 illicit pills over a three-year period and grossed more than $5 million.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 12.
Gonsalves’ attorney says he is preparing a rebuttal to the government’s filing but declined further comment. Gonsalves plans to appeal his conviction.
