GIBSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Two lawmakers will be providing U.S. flags as replacements for the one stolen from the Gibsonville Police Department.

Local media outlets report was stolen last Friday as it flew at half-staff in front of the building in honor of National Peace Officer’s Day.

N.C. Rep. Jon Hardister has ordered a replacement flag and says he will present it to the department as soon as possible. Until then, Hardister said he’ll order a flag flown over the state capital in honor of the Gibsonville police.

WFMY-TV in Greensboro reported that Rep. Mark Walker tweeted the station and said his office is sending a new flag from the U.S. Capitol.

Police are still looking for the person who took the flag.
