OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - A southwest Ohio university is hosting a four-day conference on aging studies this week.

The North American Network Aging Studies conference, or NANAS, begins Tuesday at Miami University with scholars from across North American and Europe. Presentations will focus on how culture influences what it means to grow old.

Conference organizers say the research being presented is grounded in humanities, history, philosophy and literature. They say it moves away from the science and biology of aging to look at the experiences of later life.

The conference is sponsored on campus by the Scripps Gerontology Center, the Humanities Center and the department of sociology and gerontology.
