LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The Louisville metropolitan area has improved slightly in fitness but according to a report by the America College of Sports Medicine, the area still ranks among the worst in the nation.
The Courier-Journal (https://cjky.it/1Lgbd5O ) reports the study done by the group ranks the Louisville metropolitan area fifth-worst among 50 regions in the nation, an improvement from second-worst last year. The Louisville area includes Jefferson County, eight surrounding counties in the state and four in Indiana.
Dr. Deborah Ann Ballard, a KentuckyOne Health physician, says two root causes of poor health in a population are poverty and lack of education.
Indianapolis was ranked as the worst metropolitan area, followed by Memphis, Tennessee, and Oklahoma City.
