WOLFSBURG, Germany (AP) - Wolfsburg managing director Klaus Allofs has extended his contract with the Volkswagen-backed club by three years through June 2019.

The 58-year-old Allofs, who joined the Bundesliga side in November 2012, says “we have reached our interim targets in just under three years but we’re not where we want to be yet.”

Wolfsburg is assured of at least third place in the Bundesliga and direct qualification for next season’s Champions League. The club also faces Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup final on May 30.

Allofs, who joined Wolfsburg after more than a decade in management at Werder Bremen, has overseen the transfers of Kevin de Bruyne, Andre Schuerrle and Luiz Gustavo, among others.

Wolfsburg was 11th in the Bundesliga after his first season and fifth in the next.
