BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Police are investigating after an exchange of gunfire at a gas station in Burlington left one man dead and another injured.

Assistant Police Chief Chris Verdeck tells local news organizations that the shooting was reported about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

One man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg while the other was hit in the chest and later died at a nearby hospital.

Police have not released the names of the men involved.

There is no word on any arrest.
