BRANDON, Miss. (AP) - The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a jet ski crash that left one dead and one in custody.

According to local media reports, 29-year-old Bryan James Bessonette of Pearl was killed Tuesday when two jet skis collided on a lake in the Robinhood community of Rankin County.

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said the accident was called in at 6:18 p.m. Tuesday.

Bailey says the driver of the other jet ski, 36-year-old John Craig Simpson of Florence, is charged with culpable negligence manslaughter. It is not clear if Simpson has a lawyer.

Bailey says the accident remains under investigation.
