WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - A 15-year-old Forsyth County boy has been indicted on second-degree murder charges after police say he killed his grandfather, dragged his body to the woods and invited friends over for a party.

The Winston-Salem Journal (https://bit.ly/1Pwgyfc ) reports the teenager was indicted Monday. He will be tried as an adult.

The teen is accused of killing 75-year-old Clarence Nelson Parrish October 18. Parrish’s body was found in the woods near his house near Kernersville.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office says the teen attacked his grandfather with shovel and stabbed him with a kitchen knife before inviting friends over.

The boy told investigators he killed his grandfather because his mother was struggling financially and he thought she would inherit Parrish’s money.

The teenager’s attorneys declined to comment. No court date has been set.
