OXFORD, Maine (AP) - A developer and a contractor have come to terms to build a hotel across from the Oxford Casino.

The Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/1PW6mYi ) reports that Quincy, Massachusetts-based developers GIRI Group on Tuesday signed the agreement with New York-based Calamar to construct the 92-room Hampton Inn.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

First announced nearly two years ago, the hotel is seen as being essential to attracting gamblers to the casino.

The deal comes a month after GIRI signed a second, new credit enhancement agreement enabling the town to retain some taxes generated through property development.

Officials say completion of the hotel is tied to the town’s $24 million sewer project, not expected to be completed before next summer.

The hotel potentially would create 23 part-time and full-time jobs.
