MONROE, La. (AP) - A man indicted on two counts of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated arson has had his bail reduced in 4th Judicial Court.
The News Star reports (https://tnsne.ws/1IPF714 ) that Matthew Alexander has been held at Ouachita Correctional Center on a $750,000 bail since Aug. 28, when he was accused of setting fire to the West Monroe home of Ray and Christine Nixon, his former employers.
On Tuesday, Judge Larry Jefferson reduced Alexander’s bail from $250,000 per count to $25,000, making a total of $75,000. The judge says Alexander must reside with his parents in Beesville, Texas, until the trial, not have contact with the victims and surrender his passport.
In April, Jefferson granted a motion to suppress cellphone records that were obtained without a warrant. Prosecutors have appealed the order.
